Among the smart electronic products ruling the world these days, the tablet is the forerunner. Of these tablets, one of the most popular is the one manufactured by Research In Motion (RIM), more famously the Blackberry manufacturer. RIM has recently released a beta version of the operating system of its next tablet, which has the ability to run Android applications. There is an online tool that allows developers to convert their Android APK files into BAR files or PlayBook, which can then be loaded onto the device manually. After this OS is out of beta, it would be possible for developers to upload these files to RIM’s Blackberry AppWorld. This will add diversity to the range of applications available to PlayBook users.

The Android player has been tested with a popular Android app, the NewsRob RSS reader. Once the APK files had been downloaded, an online tool was used to upload the file and convert it into a PlayBook BAR file. Although it wasn’t possible to upload this to the AppWorld, it was possible to manually install the file on a PlayBook and it worked well. The functioning of the app was unhindered although there were glitches regarding the placement of menus, text sizes and the spacing of the news stories. With this app, you can log onto your Google Reader account and import all your feeds and read articles.

In recent news, RIM had announced that it will merge its Smartphone, which is the Blackberry, and tablet operating systems. This merger will result in the features and usability of the Blackberry OS incorporated with the speed and reliability of the QNX OS. This new OS, named as BBX-OS will include the ability to run Android applications.

The Lenovo R60 is very similar to the T60. It is basically a budget version with a thicker case that is not as durable as the case found on the Lenovo T60 laptop. The Lenovo R60′s case is made from a rugged plastic instead of the magnesium alloy that is used for the case on the T60 ThinkPad. However, many of the features of the ThinkPad R60 are the same or very similar to the features found on the T60.

The ThinkPad R60 is an improvement over the ThinkPad R52 in many ways. First of all, the Lenovo R60 has a faster processor, the Intel Core Duo. It also has an internal roll cage that provides extra protection from damage to the internal components of the laptop. The Lenovo ThinkPad R60 also has one more USB slot than the R52 ThinkPad.

You can no longer purchase a new R60 ThinkPad since they have been discontinued by the manufacturer, but you can still find used and refurbished R60s. The best place to buy a refurbished Lenovo R60 is Amazon.com. They sometimes have a used ThinkPad Lenovo R60 or two as well.

You can also check Amazon.com for accessories and replacement parts for your ThinkPad Lenovo R60. It seems like the thing that needs to be replaced most frequently is the power cord. Laptop power cords often develop shorts from being bent or twisted and end up requiring replacement. Fortunately, the cost for these cords is not that high.

Amazon.com is also the place to go if you need more memory, a new screen or a new battery for your Lenovo R60 ThinkPad. In addition, there are many laptop cases available that will accommodate your Lenovo R60.

ThinkPad R60 Review

Everyone seems to have a laptop today. There are many different models available, including the Lenovo ThinkPad R60. Technically, this brand of laptop originated from IBM. It was IBM that designed, manufactured and sold them until the Chinese manufacturer, Lenovo, purchased it. So today this type of laptop is called the Lenovo R60 ThinkPad.

ThinkPad notebooks have undergone several innovations since their transfer from IBM to Lenovo. Some are system related such as the integration of Linux official support and inclusion of all Windows shortcuts. Other changes include the reduction of motherboard flexing by adding a rolled cage alloyed chassis and the widescreen displays on T series and Z series models.

ThinkPad laptops have continued to live up to customers’ expectations and even exceeded them with the birth of more recent models. From the time of its inception, this portable gizmo has astounded its users with its reliabity, portability and outstanding build quality. Today, it’s current product line still lives up to those qualities and even doubles, especially in its T and X series.

These series are becoming favorites when it comes to choosing serious business tools. The T series boasts of its performance capabilities by incorporating the best processors, high graphic capacities and great storage abilities. On the other hand, the X series are for ultra portability and versatility. This model is perfect for one who’s always on the go. It features the thinnest, most lightweight case along with longer battery life.

The T series tablets are more advanced and stylish. With the same great systems specifications and storage capacities, they are convertible and have touch screen abilities. So, you can virtually write on-screen with these computers.

If you want something that is more powerful system-wise, without using a desktop, there are the W Lenovo notebooks. They introduce cutting-edge technology, advanced graphics and really speedy CPUs.

However, it cannot be denied that these technology PCs are relatively expensive. And if you want a ThinkPad and cannot spend so much for those models, there are still a lot of great options for you. You may want to consider the Lenovo R series, such as the ThinkPad Lenovo R60 and Lenovo R61. These are budget-friendly if you want a ThinkPad that’s efficient and inexpensive.

As you shop for a Lenovo R60 ThinkPad laptop, consider the reviews posted on the Internet for these products. A ThinkPad R60 review will tell you that it is a cheaper version of T60. But cheaper doesn’t always means less efficient or less durable. The big difference that sets it apart from the T60 is that the latter is thinner and has a more solid casing. Other than that, think ThinkPad R60 still has rugged design and excellent software.

The ThinkPad R60 has an Intel Core Duo 2.0 GHz T2500 processor, ATI X1400 with 128MB Graphics, ATI X1400 with 128MB, 1GB RAM and you can expand up to 4GB of RAM and a 100 GB hard disk with 7200 RPM (SATA), among other options. It has a DVD burner and Intel wireless card. It weighs less than 7lbs.

Lenovo ThinkPad R60 is a Sturdy Machine for the Budget Conscious

For those who are looking for an inexpensive laptop, the ThinkPad Lenovo R60 is an excellent choice. R60 laptops are even less expensive than the T60 version. For those who are confused and do not know the difference between the Lenovo R60 and T60, rest assured that even though the T60 is thinner and sleeker than the R60, on the pricing front your will find the Lenovo ThinkPad R60 laptop a winner. Of course the other difference between the two models is covered later in this topic.

The ThinkPad R60 is a more sophisticated product than the R52 series, offering the users more flexible configuration at cheaper prices. One of the new features is the option of connectivity provided in these laptops with Verizon’s WAN service. Though WWAN networks are reported to be slower than Wi-Fi networks, the connectivity to cell phone ranges is very good and steady.

The second change in features is the new case and the keyboard. The new case design is made with a magnesium alloy frame which appears to be stronger and more impact resistant. However it is too early to predict the acceptance of the minor changes in keyboard feel from die hard IBM fans. IBM ThinkPads have been known for their keyboard design with the prominent red color eraser head stick. People have gotten used to working with this keyboard and may not easily accept a change which takes away their familiarity.

The R60 ThinkPad is equipped with Intel Core Duo Pentium 1.70 GHz/512 MB/40 GB Hard Disk with CD-RW/DVD drive with USB 2.0 slots. The ATI X 1440 Graphics card is also a new addition on this model.

The ThinkPad R60 offers a new fingerprint reader which has been built into the palm rest. The ThinkPad R60 laptop also has an active protection system which is designed to protect the hard drive and the data. The hard drive is mounted on rubber pads to make it shock proof. The battery pack gives a performance of up to 6 hours in test lab conditions.

The ThinkPad R60 notebook weighs 6.84 lbs with and is 13.1″ wide by 1.58″ thick by 10.6″ deep. This notebook is a little on the heavier side, but those who are used to the series do not mind carrying a little heavier load due to its outstanding performance.

The ThinkPad screen is available in 14″ and 15″ size in both the R52 and R60. You can opt for either XGA or SXGA screen resolution depending on which you prefer. There doesn’t seem to be any difference between the screens offered in both categories of laptops.

Many people have asked what the difference is between the R60 and the T60. While both laptops look essentially the same and have similar configurations and performance, the major point of difference happens to be the price. You will find that the R60 is cheaper than the ThinkPad T60, which makes it worthwhile to opt for the R60 ThinkPad.

The main difference besides the price is in the construction of both models. The R60 model is built with a plastic casing while the T60 uses an alloy casing. Another minor difference is found in the use of an optical drive bay. The T60 model uses the ultra slim optical drive bay that can be swapped out, and the R60 uses a thicker ultra bay which is not swappable. The fire GL graphics card is available in the T60 but not in the R60.

The Lenovo ThinkPad R60 is a budget-priced option for students and anyone else who needs a good laptop computer for a great price. Another option you may want to consider is the Lenovo R61 laptop.

ThinkPad R60, an Innovative Notebook from IBM

Although IBM no longer manufactures its ThinkPad R60 laptops, you can still buy a used or factory refurbished model. In performance, this notebook resembles the earlier series of R52 model notebooks except for a few additional features and add-on component options. The most noticeable differences are the fact that Lenovo R60 ThinkPad offers longer battery life and a new 14” SXGA+ graphics choice with more connectivity options.

The Lenovo ThinkPad R60 is ideally meant for office use as well as small offices and consultants who need portability along with sturdy performance. Small businesses and professionals look for value for their money and at the same time need workhorse performance. ThinkPad R60 models are poised to fit this category with budget-friendly prices that deliver value for every dollar.

Security features are one of the most notable features of all IBM ThinkPads which makes the ThinkPads stand out from among the crowd. The fingerprint reader, security lock slot, hard drive password, administrator password and power on password are all features of this notebook. These security features are very important and useful, especially when the laptop is being used by professionals and businessmen who are connected to the Internet all of the time.

The basic configuration of the Lenovo R60 ThinkPad consists of Intel’s Core Duo T2500 2 Ghz processor and 100 GB Hard Disk. Further specifications include ATI mobility Radeon X1400 card with 128 MB memory which provides fantastic graphics performance. Built-in devices include a wireless LAN antenna, stereo speakers and Think Light. The Think Light is the most useful and user friendly feature which enables you to work even in darkness or and provides visibility of the keyboard by focusing light on the keyboard.

The dimensions of the notebook are almost identical to the R52 series laptops with the size being 3.1 inches wide x 1.6 inches high x 10.6 inches deep. The ThinkPad Lenovo R60 notebook weighs 6.8 lbs, which is a little on the heavy side for a notebook computer.

The battery set provided with the R60 ThinkPad gives long lasting performance. Test results have shown that the battery lasted for a good 6.2 hours which was longer than the performance of other series notebooks and also longer than other brands of similar configuration. The R60 ThinkPad notebook is black in color. The case is made out of an alloy of magnesium with metal edge frames designed to protect the screen. The hard drive is specially mounted on rubber pads and rendered shock proof.

One of the differences between R60 and other laptops is the increased number of USB ports. The ThinkPad R60 has three ports while most other notebooks have only two ports.

The R60 ThinkPad includes features like a power-optimized processor system bus, enhanced speed step technology and execute disable bit capability which make this notebook a top runner in performance.

The OS suite consists of pre-loaded Microsoft Windows Vista or Microsoft Windows XP Professional and the system is loaded with a pre-installed but inactivated version of Microsoft Office Suite 2007. Purchase of a medialess license kit is required to activate the software.

Most user reviews for the R60 ThinkPad are in agreement that the R60 is a workhorse giving the best performance at the very best price. If you’re not sure that the R60 is for you, another model to check out is the Lenovo R61.

ThinkPad Lenovo R60 and R61 Reviews

The specifications for the ThinkPad R60 include Intel Pentium duo core processor T2300 which runs at 1.66 GHz with 2 MB L2 cache, the Intel 945GM Express Chip (800 MHz FSB), 512 MB DDR2 PC2-5300 SD RAM with a maximum of 2 GB and a standard 24X DVD or CD-RW combination optical drive, along with an 80 GB 5400 rpm SATA HDD. The best part about the Lenovo ThinkPad R60 is that it has a larger screen measuring 15.4 inches with WXGA widescreen LCD with TFT display.

Speaking of the components of the ThinkPad Lenovo R60 laptop, the entire PC is packed up with magnesium framing which truly acts as a defense against falls. The hard disk of the ThinkPad laptop has shock absorbing technology and uses the standard hard disk protection mechanism. The internal components of the ThinkPad Lenovo R60 notebook are caged with magnesium to help reduce stress up to 30 percent in case the notebook is dropped. The TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 1.2 security chipset gives enhanced security with the fingerprint reader permitting system access and secured data or information only to authorized persons.

ThinkPad Lenovo R60 Review

The R60 ThinkPad system is solid and comes with a good quality ThinkPad keyboard. The only downside is that it sacrifices heavily on storage so that the dual core processor can be put together. For business users, this shouldn’t be a problem but the regular user will probably want a larger hard drive, which can be found in similarly priced notebooks.

You can find a lot of low-cost notebooks if you are ready for the old Celeron or the core solo processor. If you want the Intel 2 Core Duo processor, it will give you enhanced performance and that’s why this notebook PC has compromised with the storage. It will run out of space if you use it for digital photographs, music or video. If you take a look at many other budget systems, the others offer much better than the Lenovo R60 laptop for hard drive space.

In the area of graphics, the ThinkPad R60 notebook offers 4:3 screens as well as a newer and wider screen for users who prefer a larger viewing area. The best part is that Lenovo continues to deliver excellence in keyboards and controls and that is the biggest advantage of owning one. Additionally, it feels sturdier than other notebooks.

Lenovo R61 Review

The Lenovo R61 is highly recommended for people who are looking for a low budget laptop. It has a new roll caged design and if you are looking for something that is reliable and portable, then your search ends here. Though it lacks in other features, overall it is a good choice.

The ThinkPad laptops have a roll cage design that helps improve the rigidity of the laptop. With the Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 processor, it is a good deal with a low price point. The problem is with the 512MB of PC2-5300 DDR2 memory which is suitable for limited uses. Another disappointing factor is the storage space. It only has an 80 GB HDD which is just average for low cost notebooks. The Lenovo R61 comes with a CD-RW/DVD combination burner.

The ThinkPad Lenovo R60 and R61 are solid computer laptop systems that will surely last longer than other budget laptops.

Lenovo R61 and R60

Lenovo has become the most sought after brand when it comes to laptops and computers because of its economical and high quality products. Lenovo’s ThinkPad notebooks have become a rage these days and have become one of the most coveted gadgets to own. ThinkPads come with a number of useful features and are known for their reliability and ruggedness. Some of the main innovative features of ThinkPads include:

TrackPoint pointing device
ThinkLight
Active Protection System
Roll-cage
Biometric fingerprint reader
Client Security Solution

The ThinkPad R series computers are affordable and lightweight notebooks. The series is popular for its great performance and outstanding battery life. The laptops in this series also have large and bright displays. Two of the laptops in the R series are the ThinkPad R60 and R61, which are discussed in detail below.

Lenovo Thinkpad R60

The Lenovo Thinkpad R60 was launched in 2006 as an update to the Thinkpad R52. The improvements in the Lenovo R60 include:

A faster Intel Core Duo processor
An extra USB 2.0 slot, optional integrated WWAN
Magnesium-alloy roll cage for extra internal component protection
The offering of the ATI X1400 graphics card

Some of the Thinkpad R60‘s specifications are:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 / 2 GHz
Chipset Type: Mobile Intel 945PM Express
OS Provided: Windows XP Professional
Color: Black
Built-in Devices: Stereo speakers, wireless LAN antenna, ThinkLight
Hard Drive: 120 GB – Serial ATA-150 – 5400 rpm
Display Type: 15″ TFT
Color Support: 24-bit (16.7 million colors)
RAM: 1GB (up to 4GB max)
Weight: 6.84lbs

Thinkpad R60 Review

Lenovo’s R60 ThinkPad has garnered praise for its looks, keyboard, wireless options and rugged design. It’s also inexpensive (cheaper than the Thinkpad T60) and highly configurable. Though reviewers have pointed out that it’s not as light as other notebooks and that it lacks a media card reader, such shortcomings have not been able to hamper the sales of this excellent and professional notebook.

ThinkPad Lenovo R61

This Lenovo R61 ThinkPad was launched in 2007 as a “thin and light” member of the R-series. It has a number of new features such as
a redesigned roll cage for extra reinforcement in the lid, the new Intel “Santa Rosa” platform for mobile computers and a built-in wireless WAN antenna on the left side of the lid.

Some of Lenovo R61’s specifications are:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 / 2 GHz
Chipset Type: Mobile Intel PM965 Express
OS Provided: Windows Vista Business
Color: Black
Built-in Devices: Stereo speakers, wireless LAN antenna, ThinkLight, Bluetooth antenna
Hard Drive: 80 GB – Serial ATA-150 – 5400 rpm
Display Type: 15.4″ TFT
Color Support: 24-bit (16.7 million colors)
RAM: 1GB (up to 4GB max)
Weight: 6.4 lbs

Thinkpad Lenvoo R61 Review

The Lenovo Thinkpad R61 laptop has been widely praised for its stylish design, its extra hard drive protection and its great battery life. The Lenovo R61 ThinkPad also doesn’t get hot as quickly and has decent viewing angles. It is cheaper than its nearest competitor, the Thinkpad T61, which has made the Lenovo ThinkPad R61 notebook computer a popular choice. However, it is heavier than the T61.

Both the ThinkPad Lenovo R60 and the ThinkPad R61 are sturdy and inexpensive laptops that would be great for anyone who is using the computer for basic tasks such as word processing.
