Although IBM no longer manufactures its ThinkPad R60 laptops, you can still buy a used or factory refurbished model. In performance, this notebook resembles the earlier series of R52 model notebooks except for a few additional features and add-on component options. The most noticeable differences are the fact that Lenovo R60 ThinkPad offers longer battery life and a new 14” SXGA+ graphics choice with more connectivity options.

The basic configuration of the Lenovo R60 ThinkPad consists of Intel’s Core Duo T2500 2 Ghz processor and 100 GB Hard Disk. Built-in devices include a wireless LAN antenna, stereo speakers and Think Light. The battery set provided with the R60 ThinkPad gives long lasting performance. Test results have shown that the battery lasted for a good 6.2 hours which was longer than the performance of other series notebooks and also longer than other brands of similar configuration. The R60 ThinkPad notebook is black in color. The case is made out of an alloy of magnesium with metal edge frames designed to protect the screen. The hard drive is specially mounted on rubber pads and rendered shock proof.
One of the differences between R60 and other laptops is the increased number of USB ports. The ThinkPad R60 has three ports while most other notebooks have only two ports.
The R60 ThinkPad includes features like a power-optimized processor system bus, enhanced speed step technology and execute disable bit capability which make this notebook a top runner in performance.
The OS suite consists of pre-loaded Microsoft Windows Vista or Microsoft Windows XP Professional and the system is loaded with a pre-installed but inactivated version of Microsoft Office Suite 2007. Purchase of a medialess license kit is required to activate the software.
